I’ve put this page together about my family, my work and myself to enable you to get to know us all a little better, well me in particular of course.  I hope you enjoy reading it.

We, that’s David my partner and Laura our lovely daughter, live in the very picturesque Northern spa Town of Harrogate, North Yorkshire. We are animal lovers and share our home with our crazy chocolate brown labrador called Rolo and our cats Nero and Chino. You can catch a glimpse of them below.

My Background

I was in Advertising, Marketing & Sales then about 21 years ago I got my first exposure into Network Marketing with a Health and Wellness company. Purely by fluke, as I took a flyer off the back of a toilet door in Kings Cross Station where I was waiting for a delayed train after a week of training in London.  I was really upset that the train had been delayed because it meant I wouldn’t get home in time to see Laura before she went to bed.

You can imagine when I saw a leaflet offering ‘work from home’ I couldn’t resist picking it up.  My life has never been the same since – thank goodness!

My Initial Goal

Was to give network marketing a shot and to be working from home full time by the time Laura began primary school.  I worked my sales job by day and built up my network marketing business by night for around 2 years.

Luckily for me I was able to take Laura to school on her first day, it felt wonderful and I pretty much took her every day after that until she learnt to drive!  I am very lucky, hugely grateful and thankful that I was able to do this.

Being so flexible also allowed me to take her to: after school clubs; go on school trips; attend every school performance; invite friends back for tea and really get to know her class mates. None of this would have been possible if I had continued working full time for somebody else.

The 2008 Crash

Whilst the rest of the world was worrying about the 2008 crash, I decided to take my business online. This is where my personal online learning journey began. The problem was, I had no experience online, it was all traditional marketing which meant I had to learn from scratch!

I took course after course after course!  Watched video after video after video! Webinar after webinar after webinar! I soaked up everything I could get my hands on and more.

The techie stuff was the hardest to master for me. It just didn’t come naturally at all. Some of the things I needed to learn and implement took me forever but I never gave up!  I always pushed myself to master whatever I needed to know!

Right From The Start There Had Always Been

This little voice inside my head saying…

“If you’re struggling and you’ve got an advertising, marketing and sales background, then how on earth will other business owners cope with this?”

That’s really how Rachel Moore Social Media training began.  I could see that SMEs would struggle with many of the online tasks required of them because I too had struggled.  I felt that as I’d already been through it myself, I was in the perfect position to help them.  Meaning they could cut down their learning journey because, let’s face it, I’d already done it the hard way so why should they!

Little did I know back then that I would end up public speaking, training, consulting and even managing other businesses’ social media accounts for them!  All I wanted at that stage was to know how to promote my own health and wellness business online!

Ironically it seems I’ve come full circle without even realising it.  I’ve gone from helping businesses market themselves offline through traditional methods within the advertising agencies I worked in to being home based working for myself, helping businesses market themselves online through social media training.

Isn’t life wonderfully weird!

Fast Forward To Today

So what do I do now?

Well, I train clients, large and small, how to use social media confidently and effectively to help them become more visible. This can also include showing them how to generate leads through social media training. I also manage social media accounts on behalf of businesses, although I mainly focus on the social media training.

My current offering includes: 1-2-1 and group private, bespoke training and consulting.  This can be in person, online or at your place of work.   In person and online events such as Masterclasses and live in the room one day workshops.  These are incredibly popular and I also speak in public about all things social media.  And if that wasn’t enough I’ve also won 6 awards over the past 2 years.

All in all not bad to say I knew nothing about being online or social media in 2008 😉

My Promise

I wasted a huge amount of valuable time learning many things that I didn’t need to know.  It slowed my progress down greatly which both frustrated me and cost me dearly, financially.

I made a promise to myself.  ‘Once I knew what I was doing I would teach others only what they needed to know.‘ Meaning they wouldn’t waste time learning non essential things like I did.

So that’s me in a nutshell!  I hope you’ve enjoyed learning about my journey.  From shareholding director in a Yorkshire ad agency to  stay at home mum whose passion is helping others wherever and however I can.
