General – Study Shows Young Consumers Are Increasingly Turning to Social For Discovery
Not that this should surprise any of us really. However the findings from this study show that young people are increasingly using the social apps, TikTok and Instagram in particular, for their business discovery purposes. And what is surprising is that even Google highlighted the shift to TikTok and Instagram for search as being a potential threat to their business 😵
LinkedIn™ – Make Posts With External Links Smaller 😥
If you include an external link in your page post then your post will show up smaller in the Feed unless you pay for it! See example.
X™- Updates Policies To Allow Sexual Content In The App
Yes you read that correctly, it seems that X is now okay with porn!! 😱 Let’s see how long that one plays out!
Meta™ – Verified Offers A Money-back Deal
Meta is now offering a 14-day money-back guarantee on your Meta Verified subscription if you aren’t satisfied with the service.
TikTok™ – ByteDance Appoints John Rogovin As Global General Counsel
As it gears up for a range of legal battles in the U.S., in opposition to the U.S. goverment’s enforced sell-off push, TikTok’s parent company ByteDance has appointed veteran lawyer John Rogovin as its Global General Counsel to help head up its defense.
Instagram™ – May Start Forcing You To Watch Ads
Instagram is now testing a pop-up that will force you to stop and read an ad. It’s referred to as an Ad Break.
LinkedIn™ – Increasing Post Reach
If you go onto LinkedIn and do a little ‘liking and commenting’ before you post your own post, the people you have been engaging with previously are far more likely to see your post!
Facebook™ – Building A Community
Use Facebook Groups to build a community around your brand, interests or industry niche. Groups often see higher engagement rates compared to pages.
A great way to increase group and page engagement is to ask ‘open questions’.
Open questions are questions that you cannot reply yes or no to, you have to reply with a sentence! If you can reply with a yes or no answer then these are referred to as a ‘closed questions.’
The longer the reply/comment on a post, the better it is in the eyes of the algorithm as it’s less likely to have been written by a bot!
Instagram™ – Story Highlights
Two main differences between Facebook and Instagram are that you can add plenty of information about your business on a Facebook business page. Information such as opening times, location, website, phone number, email and of course the huge ‘About’ section (which should always be fully completed to help Facebook and visitors understand what your page is about) whereas Instagram only has a small Bio for you to use.
That said, a great way to showcase your company on Instagram is via the Story Highlights. These are the circles below your Bio. You could create a Story Highlight for each page of your company website where you can showcase what your company is all about!
