The eagled eyed among you will have noticed that Rachel’s Social Snippets #19 is a week late, for which I apologise. The reason is …
My best/closest friend passed away on Monday morning and I needed some time to process what had happened. Creating a newsletter suddenly didn’t seem so important in the scheme of things. I know you will understand.
Sooo, having missed a week we have plenty of content to choose from for this week’s Snippet 👇
Instagram™ – Familiar With The Mapping Tool On Snapchat?
Well, it looks like it might be heading across to Instagram as they are currently testing this feature.
Basically, it will allow Instagram users to post text and video updates to a map based on where they were taken. The map is shared with friends, whose updates can all appear alongside each other. It is, pretty much, just the Snap Map feature, which was originally launched in 2017.
Meta™ – Expands Profile Connections For Business Suite
Meta is rolling out a new update for Meta Business Suite (aka “Creator Studio,” aka “Business Manager” 😵) which will enable you to connect more profiles to your account, so that you can easily switch between them when managing your Facebook and Instagram presence.
LinkedIn™ – Shares Insight Into What Drives B2B Campaign Response
So what’s working in B2B ads, and what sparks decision makers to pay attention, and click through on B2B brand promotions? Find out more
Telegram™ – CEO Arrested As Part Of Probe Into Criminal Activity In The App
The big social media news of the weekend was the arrest of Telegram CEO Pavel Durov, who was taken into custody upon landing in Paris on Saturday morning, as part of an ongoing probe into the role that Telegram has played in allowing criminal activity to proliferate via Telegram chats.
Threads™ – Launches Live Test Of Disappearing Posts
After it was spotted in testing back in June, Threads has now launched a live test of disappearing updates in the app with selected users, which it’s hoping will facilitate more engagement and interaction in its X (Twitter) challenger tool.
General – Images Now Available For ChatGPT™ Free Users
DALL-E 3 launched last year as a feature for ChatGPT Plus subscribers is now going to allow Free users to make up to two images per day.
LinkedIn™ Why Has This Feature Taken So Long To Arrive I Wonder?
Finally you can now edit a scheduled post within LinkedIn™ – hooorrayy! No more finding an error in your post and having to delete then re-type the whole post👏
If you don’t have it yet, watch out for it, it’s coming 😍
LinkedIn™ Did You Know You Can Hide Your Connections?
Why would you want to hide your connections I hear you ask?
Well, some competitors scroll through and connect with your connections 😱 Having your connection visibility ‘Open’ makes this very easy for them to do!
On the other hand, switching the visibility of your connections to ‘Off’ makes it much harder for them to achieve.
Yes, they can still see the connections who comment on your posts but they can’t just scroll down your pre-prepared list of connections 😉
How?
Top menu bar, click the arrow under ‘Me’ which is under your small profile image.
Scroll down to ‘Settings & Privacy’.
On the left hand menu bar, click ‘Visibility’ then in the centre menu click ‘Who can see your connection’. Click that to switch to ‘Off’.
