A court in the Netherlands has ordered Meta to change Facebook and Instagram’s timelines, after finding that the element ran afoul of the European Union’s Digital Services Act (DSA).

Reminder: Meta™ – Is Shutting Off Political Ads In The EU This Week

A quick reminder for Meta advertisers in Europe: As of this week, Meta is implementing its ban on all political, electoral and social issue ads in the EU, due to incoming regulations around political advertising in the region.

Instagram™ – Looks To Highlight Creative Talent With New Awards

Instagram is rolling out a new award for creators, which aims to showcase creativity and talent within IG content. Although the promotional material makes it look more like a horror movie than an aspirational

initiative 🤣🤣

YouTube™ –  Announcing A New Shorts Remix Capability

You can already add your own ending to a Short with our Cut feature, and now we’re making it even more fun to remix with Extend with AI.

TikTok™ – Ups Subscription Revenue Share For US Creators

With it looking more and more like TikTok will be allowed to remain in operation in the U.S., the platform is now making a renewed push to win over American and Canadian creators.

Are You Using Text Formatting, Such As Bold or Italics On Your LinkedIn Posts?
If you are, you might want to stop!

Why…

Well, you won’t get directly penalised by the LinkedIn algorithm for using them but here are four reasons that may strongly discourage you:

1) Reduced Search Visibility

Content using Unicode characters is not indexed by LinkedIn’s search engine, making it harder for others to find your posts organically.

2) Reducing Accessibility For Screen Readers

Screen readers cannot properly interpret Unicode characters, leading to a poor experience for the visually impaired and others with conditions like dyslexia and learning difficulties. (An estimated UK figure of 2 million people.)

3) Potentially Consuming More Character Count

Unicode characters can take up more character space, potentially limiting the length of your message within a post’s character limit.

4) Inconsistent Rendering Across Different Devices

Stylised text may appear differently or as gibberish on various devices, undermining your message.  While LinkedIn doesn’t prevent you from using these characters, it’s best to avoid them in posts for a better user experience and increased discoverability. Articles and Newsletters are different and the facility is available within those formats.
