Meta™ – Adds Warnings To Protect Older Users From Common Scams

Online scams are a massive problem and knowledge gaps are a key factor that enable these schemers to operate. Meta have shared some advice that you can pass on to your parents, uncles and aunts who spend too much of their time scrolling through Facebook.

Meta™ – Is Axing 600 Roles Across Its AI Division

Meta is axing around 600 roles from its legacy Fundamental AI Research unit, known as FAIR, and its AI product and infrastructure division to reduce the team’s size.  While cutting these legacy positions, the company continues to hire workers for its newly formed superintelligence team, a separate group which is being called the TBD Lab.

Meta/Snapchat™ – Zuckerberg, Mosseri & Spiegel Ordered To Testify In Child Social Media Trial

Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg was ordered by a Los Angeles judge on Monday to testify at the first trial over the adverse effects of social media on younger users.  Snap’s Evan Spiegel and Instagram’s Adam Mosseri were also ordered to testify at the trial being held in January.

Facebook™ – Simplifies Page Creation Process

Facebook’s rolling out a new way to simplify the process of building a business presence in the app, by giving users a clear delineation between ‘Company’ and ‘Creator’ profiles within the Page creation process.

Instagram™ – Adds Watch History for Reels

The feature will make it easier to find videos that you’ve previously watched but not saved. 

YouTube™ – Launches New AI Tool To Fight Deepfakes

YouTube’s new likeness detection technology has rolled out to eligible Partner Program creators, allowing them to find and request removal of AI-generated content that features their face or voice.

Instragram™ – Reel Tips

  1. Don’t post with a watermark or logo – if you do you’ll see restricted reach.
  2. Keep under 3 minutes.
  3. Use music or dynamic audio – it doesn’t have to be trending but trending is great too.
  4. Post regularly, multiple times per week – so people know what to expect when they follow you.
  5. Experiment – great way to experiment is to use ‘Trial Reels’ these go out to non-followers.
