Welcome to this week’s Rachel’s Social Snippets #96 – I have to start with a huge apology for missing the last few weeks. Mainly due to a family holiday, work load and illness so something had to give but hopefully we are back on an even footing again now and can catch up on some of what’s been happening over the past week or so.

Instagram Quick Tip: Don’t waste your ‘Name field’
On Instagram, your username and your name field are two different things.
Your username is your handle, for example: @rachelmooresocialmedia
Your name field is the bold line underneath your profile photo.
A common mistake is using the same wording in both places, which to be honest, is a waste of very precious space. Your name field is one of the places Instagram searches to understand what your account is about, and it can also help people quickly work out whether they are in the right place or not.
Instagram’s own guidance says search looks at text people enter and related usernames, bios and places, so using clear wording matters. Instead of simply repeating your business name, think about adding a useful keyword or phrase.
For example:
Instead of: Rachel Moore
Try: Rachel Moore | LinkedIn Trainer OR Social Media Trainer Yorkshire OR LinkedIn Training for SMEs
You don’t need to stuff it with keywords. Just make it as clear as you can.
A quick test:
If someone found your profile in search, would your name field help them understand what you do? If not, it might be worth changing.

Does Your LinkedIn Profile Need A Facelift?
Have you looked at your LinkedIn profile recently?
You wouldn’t believe the amount of times I’ve delivered training to people who haven’t checked their profile in years and I really do mean years. Their profile is a CV, it has the wrong phone number, personal emails, sections missing and sections written to land them a job, not a new client.
Honestly, spend 5 minutes doing a bit of copy and pasting to check your profile positioning and lead generating effectiveness through my scoring app here
If you get below 80/85 then you need to be taking a look at how your profile is set up. You can, of course, speak to me about this. I’ll gladly help you improve your LinkedIn positioning and score.
