Facebook™ – Added A New Drafts Feature For Stories

Now you can draft a story before you post it so you can come up with ideas before you post them.

A small but useful addition. If you like planning content rather than posting on the fly, this makes Stories much easier to prepare in advance.

Facebook™ –  Can Now Show Lyrics On Screen When Sharing A Music Note

Another new feature to look out for on Facebook.

Another reminder that Meta is still experimenting with ways to make posts more interactive and creative.

Meta™ Faces UK And US Investigations Over AI Smart Glasses

Meta’s approach to data privacy is under scrutiny again, with new investigations being launched into how the company reviews content captured via Meta’s AI glasses, and how users could unwittingly be exposing private insight into their lives.
Mmmmm, this will be one to watch. As AI and wearable tech grow, questions around privacy and data use are only going to become more important.

Instagram™ – Introduces Thumbnail Post Editing For Grids

Earlier this month Instagram launched the next stage of its profile grid customisation update.
Good news for anyone who cares about how their profile grid looks. You now have a bit more control over how your posts appear once they’re live.

TikTok™ – Quietly Rolls Out End-to-End Encrypted DMs, But The Timing Raises More Questions Than It Answers

TikTok has begun rolling out end-to-end encryption for direct messages, aligning with competitors like WhatsApp and Signal. But critics argue the privacy upgrade addresses only a narrow slice of the national security concerns driving the forced divestiture debate in Washington.

TikTok is catching up with other platforms on message privacy, though it may not quieten the wider concerns regulators have about the app.

LinkedIn™ Tagging:

I often get asked about Tags so I thought it might be a useful tip for this week’s Snippets. Tagging works best when you only tag relevant people within a post and tagging just 3, max 4 is best.

If you’re wanting to tag 15-20 people, say you’ve been networking, then tag the main 3 or 4 in the post text itself, then tag the others spread across 2 or 3 comments rather than in the actual post text making sure you include a comment with the tags, don’t just add a bunch of names with an @ in front 😪 The tone and readability looks way less spammy if you do it this way.
