Can Everyone Read Your Content?

This week it was my turn to deliver the education slot at my regular GenNet networking meeting.

I chose to look at something we probably don’t give enough thought to when creating social media posts or updating our websites, Accessibility. We tend to assume that everyone sees and reads our content in the same way we do, but that’s not necessarily the case.

For example, have you ever wondered how somebody using a screen reader experiences all those emojis we like to include in our posts? I shared a fascinating short video from Perkins School for the Blind which demonstrates exactly that. It’s only 52 seconds long and well worth watching! Watch the video here We also looked at decorative bold and italic text on social media, colour contrast, alt text for images and why video captions are so important.

I thought the information might be useful to more people, so I’ve made my presentation available as a PDF for anyone who’d like to have a look. You can view the presentation here Can Everyone Read Your Content?

And if you’re interested in joining us at one of our free GenNet networking meetings, you can book your place here

Remember: a few small changes to the way you create your content can make a real difference to how many people can access and understand it.

Is It Time To Give Your LinkedIn Profile A Facelift?

Does your LinkedIn profile encourage your ideal prospects to talk to you?

You wouldn’t believe the amount of times I’ve delivered training to people who haven’t checked their profile in years and I really do mean years. Their profile is a CV, it has the wrong phone number, personal emails, sections missing and sections written to land them a job, not a new client.

Honestly, spend 5 minutes doing a bit of copy and pasting to check your profile positioning and lead generating effectiveness through my free scoring app or speak to me and I’ll do it for you. Click here to try it.

If you get below 80/85 then you need to be taking a look at how your profile is set up. You can, of course, speak to me about this. I’ll gladly help you improve your LinkedIn positioning and score as I have done for so many other businesses throughout the years!
